When it was apparent that my grandfather, Carl Jividen, was in the last year or so of his life, I took a few trips to his home and land in southern Ohio with my camera to document what I could – his reading glasses, the last of 19 dogs that he took care of over the decades, his 1941 Willy’s Jeep that was his farm truck. Carl was a veteran of war and a veteran of living, a rare man to whom I am deeply grateful.
The photographs were exhibited in a show, curated by Steve Juras, at Fulton Street Collective in Chicago.
